Edward Braddock in 1755 on his journey to his 16th encampment. Generations have lived here since the town was incorporated in 1828. Today, in the center of town is Diamond Memorial Square, the quintessential symbol of Mount Pleasant, where the World War I doughboy was erected in 1924.
