A partire da quell'asse transatlantico, euro-americano, che per quarant'anni ne ha costituito il nerbo. Limes si basa sull'incrocio di competenze e approcci molto diversi. Ad essa collaborano infatti studiosi (storici, geografi, sociologi, politologi, giuristi, antropologi eccetera) ma anche decisori (politici, diplomatici, militari, imprenditori, manager eccetera), in uno scambio aperto di opinioni e in una feconda contaminazione di approcci. Salvo le opinioni apertamente razziste, in quanto tali avverse a un dibattito aperto e paritario, tutte le idee politiche e geopolitiche hanno pieno accesso alla rivista. Essa si fonda infatti sul confronto contrastivo di rappresentazioni e progetti geopolitici diversi o anche opposti. L'essenziale ? che essi siano riconducibili a conflitti di potere nello spazio (terrestre, marittimo, aereo), e che siano quindi cartografabili.
